Viviendo en Granada

I am now in Spain! I can't believe I've been living here for a couple days now, it has been crazy to adjust to a whole other country.  When Bret and I got here on Thursday we took a bus into the city and then a taxi to our hostel which we were staying at.  It was called the Oasis Hostel and it was really nice.  It was a ton of people who were our age as well and we're traveling through Europe.  The first picture is the view from its roof and the second picture is the lobby of the hostel.  We didn't really do too much that day because we were way too tired and jet lagged so we wandered and got dinner and then went to bed. On Friday we moved into our dormitorio next to the university.  The third picture is the room I'm living in (can't believe it's a single) and the fourth and fifth pictures are pictures of the dorm itself which is a really awesome building.  So far I've been meeting a ton of people in my program and it has been ton of fun to try and navigate this foreign country with some new people in my same situation.  That being said, the highlight of this whole thing has been making some Spanish friends.  They are all really into nicknames so I know them as Oso (Bear), Banata (Sweet potato), Punky Brewster, and Krusty the Clown.  It's was a lot of fun to hang out with them and have a chance to see a little bit of Spain through their eyes and words.

Visiting Kelsey

For my last weekend on this side of the Atlantic I took the train up the central coast to visit my girlfriend Kelsey.  She'll be studying abroad in London this fall but it was still really great to get to see her one last time before we both go to Europe.  It was a pretty relaxed weekend and we ended up going to see the movie One Day with her family.  We also on Saturday went and walked around Morro Bay and on the way back stopped at a little farm where you can walk around and buy food and see some animals.  This weekend was definitely just what I needed before heading to Spain on the adventure of a lifetime.

Trip to La Jolla

This weekend my family and I went down to La Jolla for a short vacation. On Friday, we grabbed dinner and then went to see the last Harry Potter which my parents hadn't seen yet.  Saturday was a lot of fun and most of the day was spent at the horse track in Del Mar. My brother walked away with a little money but the rest of us had no luck.  On Sunday we had a really busy day and played 9 holes of golf, went to a casino (where I luckily won $100), and then saw The Help after dinner.  It was a really good weekend to hang out with the family and relax.  It was also just a good opportunity to be together right before I leave for Spain to study abroad for a year.  We all know that time together is going to be few and far between for the next year so it was really nice to get to go on this fun vacation.
